2023: Rivers State in dire need of governance; who will bail the cat?
Who will bail the cat out of the bag is a very big question steering on the faces of every concerned resident of State as 2023 draws near.
As you may know, there are well over ten candidates from different political parties jostling for the no one seat in Rivers State (the governorship) position.
Some of the candidates have so far unveiled their manifestoes in different sectors like health, education, agriculture, human capacity development etc.
In the past seven years running, Rivers State have witnessed dearth of true purposeful governance and visionary leadership under the watch of the garrulous emperor Wike, who came into power by imposition and manipulation of the then first lady, Dame Mrs Patience Jonathan.
One thing the should consider in a candidate in addition to his/her manifesto is antecedent, track records, experience, exposure, character etc. Sometimes, background should also be put into consideration.
The state between 2007 to 2015, had a very purpose driven, visionary, robust administration under Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi where all sectors of the economy thrived.
Taking a critical look at the forgoing, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections, Pastor Tonye Patrick Cole mni, stands out in the above criteria; and this is why the forces who are strongly opposed to the true development of the state and its people are hell bent on trucating his good ambition to the state.
It is not possible any where in the world that any government will employ its citizens. But government can indirectly employ all its citizens by creating an enabling environment through its people oriented policies, moderate and friendly tax system that will attract investors both within and outside. Through these investors, employment opportunities will be created and people will be gainfully employed.
Pastor Tonye Patrick Cole mni is one man that has over time proven to have these visions only asking for an opportunity to explore and bring them to reality.
It’s time we the electorates take the bull by the horn to make an enduring decision with the help of our PVCs as we go to the poll next year.
